Step 2: Bob goes to Alice's house

Bob arrives at Alice's place and here is their dialogue:

Alice: Hello Bob, thank you for coming. I wanted to show you the problem I told you about on the phone.

Bob: Hello Alice. Yes, show me that.

Alice: Look here, on this wall. Since the end of the work, this stain has been visible. I find that it stands out a lot, especially with the light from the window.

Bob: I see it. To me, it's not a paint defect. It looks more like rising damp or an old mark reappearing through the surface.

Alice: However, this stain was not visible before the work. It appeared right after your intervention.

Bob: It may not have been visible because the old paint masked it more. I applied the paint in accordance with the estimate.

Alice: I understand your point of view, but the final result is not satisfactory. I paid to have a restored room, and today this stain immediately catches the eye.

Bob: I understand your dissatisfaction. For my part, I do not believe I am responsible for the condition of the wall itself.

Alice: What do you suggest then?

Bob: I can come back to apply a new finish coat commercially, but I cannot guarantee that the stain will not reappear.

Alice: A simple extra layer doesn't seem sufficient to me. I would like the problem to be dealt with definitively.

Bob: For a complete treatment, it would probably be necessary to strip the area, apply a specific product, and then repaint. This represents additional work that was not included in the estimate.

Alice: However, I believe that this result should be included in your service.

Bob: I do not share this analysis. For me, the quote was for painting the bedroom, not for repairing a substrate defect.

Alice: I understand your position, but I do not wish to pay more to get a correct result.

Bob: And for my part, I cannot perform additional work for free for which I do not consider myself responsible.

Alice: So we disagree on the origin of the problem and who should cover the cost of the repairs.

Bob: Yes, unfortunately.

Alice: That is a pity. I was hoping we would find a solution today.

Bob: Me too. If you change your mind about my proposal, please feel free to contact me.

Alice: Alright. Thanks for coming anyway.

Bob: Thank you for having me. Have a good day, Alice.

Alice: Good day, Bob.
